Hans de Wolff
Hans de Wolf (1958) studied musical sciences at the Universty in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and church music at the music faculty of the school for higher education in the arts in Utrecht. He is currently associated with the Institute for Musical Sciences at the University of Utrecht as assistant professor, specializing in Dutch musical life in the 18th century, and music as one of the seven Free, or Liberal Arts: Grammar, Dialectic, Rhetoric, Geometry, Arithmetic, Astronomy, and Music, as defined during the High Middle Ages.
He is in regular demand for concert introductions. In addition, he teaches courses on the history of music and organizes listening courses, both at the Free University in Amsterdam.
He publishes articles in specialized journals such as “Early Music” (“Cornelis Schuyt, catholic organist on a protestant organ bench: Musical paradoxes around 1600”) and “Concerto” (“Violin playing in the Dutch Republic”).
